Starting an Art Career

Hello to fellow artists and patrons. I can't tell you how often I've heard "I can't draw a stick figure". Quite honestly, I had been tired of hearing this response to my art, so I decided to change the response. I painted it. I have been a creator and artist "since I was a child". Another much-heard phrase. But I have not moved forward with my art career as a Fine Artist as my sole income. This is, in my humble opinion, after years of soul-searching, due to my taking on others' opinions of artists, the final cliché quote "Starving Artists". This is my personal least favorite concept. I have come to realize THIS IS NOT TRUE. It is a falsehood and misconception. I can point to many successful artists....Jasmine Beckett-Griffith, Thomas Kincade, Wyland, Wyeth, Warhol, the list goes on and on.

What makes them successful? Faith in 1. Self 2. Talent 3. Ability 4. Marketing opportunities. So without further ado, I am on my way to taking myself seriously. After all, if I don't who will? I have contracted with an art rep, and I give myself credit for what I've already accomplished. 1. Great work already finished and ready to sell 2. license deal 3. published in a contemporary painters book last year 4. great friends who love my work. Wish me luck!
